How to Accept God's Grace and Forgive Yourself

Have you ever asked for God's forgiveness but not felt worthy enough to accept it? Learn four practical ways to let go of your guilt and receive God's loving gift of grace. 

JOURNAL PROMPTS INSPIRED BY SCRIPTURE:

Therefore, since we have been justified through faith, we have peace with God through our Lord Jesus Christ, through whom we have gained access by faith into this grace in which we now stand. And we boast in the hope of the glory of God. -Romans 5:1-2 (NIV)

Take a few moments and quiet your mind. Close your eyes and take some deep, calming breaths. Then ask the Holy Spirit to open your eyes to where in your heart you are holding on to guilt. Then journal about the following things:

 

  1. How does it feel to be carrying the weight of that guilt?
  2. Journal about how you think it would feel to forgive yourself completely?
  3. Why do you think Jesus died on the cross for us?
  4. Write a prayer to Jesus, asking that he help you let go of your guilt and move forward.
